What is AIAA?

The non-profit American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is the principal society and voice serving the aerospace profession. Its primary purpose is to advance the arts, sciences, and technology of aeronautics and astronautics and to foster and promote the professionalism of those engaged in these pursuits. Although founded and based in the United States, AIAA is a global organization with more than 30,000 individual professional members, close to 50 corporate members, thousands of customers worldwide, and an active international outreach. AIAA is the U.S. representative on the International Astronautical Federation and the International Council on the Aeronautical Sciences.

About the Pacific Northwest Section:

The Pacific Northwest Section of AIAA has many of its activities in the Seattle area where the majority of the membership resides. The section includes professional, associate and student members from Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and parts of Montana. We do have events in other areas of our section but it requires the assistance of our members in those areas. In the last several years, we have had events in Alaska and Eastern Washington. If you are interested in coordinating or hosting an AIAA event outside the Puget Sound Region or have an idea for one, contact the PNW Vice-Chairman Elect or any other council member.

There are special membership incentives for K-12 educators and the possiblity of grants for qualified educator associates, contact the PNW Vice-Chairman Elect or any other council member for additional information.
